Nearby è usato come avverbio o aggettivo e quindi va usato da solo (senza preposizioni), o accompagnato a un sostantivo: My school is nearby, la mia scuola è nelle vicinanze (non My school is in the nearby); in a nearby street, in una strada qui vicino. In alternativa, si può utilizzare la locuzione near here, qui vicino: The main square is near here, la piazza principale è qui vicino.
